They are: Lying, Exaggerating the Facts and Talking Yourself Down.
Do Not Lie!
This is one of the most common mistakes that people make when they put together their dating profiles. They will add facts into their profiles or leave things out that can be really important to the men and/or women who are looking at this profile. Most of the time the information added or left out is not really that important in the grand scheme of things; but whatever you are not saying might make the world of difference to the person who decides that you are the "perfect" mate for them.
Exaggerating the Facts
Something else that you might come to regret down the road is exaggerating the facts of your life when you are putting your free internet dating profile together. This can be as simple as saying that you have been in TV commercials when you really have not been or that you have been hang gliding when you are terrified of heights. While this may not seem like that big of a deal to most people, it will come back to bite you in the butt if your mate finds out that you exaggerated about this. That can be construed as lying and as a breach of trust.
Talking Yourself Down
If you think that this is not a mistake, then you seriously need to think again about this one! There is no reason whatsoever to talk or put yourself down for any reason when you are creating that dating profile. This can be as bad as outright lying on your profile and really does you no justice at all. When you talk yourself down, all you really are doing is showing others who might be interested in you that you really do not have that much confidence in yourself or who you really are. This is no good either, as you might just end up attracting someone who is a user and/or abuser this way.
Posting a False Picture
This is another mistake that people have made when setting up their profile; and the main reason that they have done this is to make themselves look better to others. Another reason that this is done is very simple: they simply do not like how they currently look or the current photos of themselves. This is another mistake that really does not do you any justice in both the short-term and the long run. If you have posted an older picture of yourself, this will cause some confusion when you two meet in person; as they will not realize that this is how you looked then, not as you do now.
